Be so Motivated that nothing can stop you!
Welcome back!
Motivation – Everyone of us has dreams. Why is it that some people are interested in reaching their dreams, while others go beyond interested and become committed to their dreams? It is these committed individuals who are able to reach their Dreams! They get what they want! They get to live out their Dreams! What turned interest into commitment? What took it to the next level? It is Motivation! Everyone knows what Motivation is. Then why is it so hard to be Motivated?
It is because the lack of the Why! Why do you seek what you are seeking?
When a person has Big enough of a WHY, they become so Motivated that nothing can stop them! Nothing scares them! You’ll do what ever it takes! You can attack your fears head on.
In the1996 Olympics there was a very memorable Gymnast: 18 year old Kerri Strug. Do you all remember the moment! Kerri is a very Motivated individual and she has got a BIG WHY! At the age of 13 Kerri decided to move away from her home in Tucson, Arizona, leaving her family behind to train with the world famous coach Bela in Houston, Texas. A 13 year old chose to move away from everything and everyone she knew. In Houston Kerri worked 8 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week with Coach Bela. At the age of 14 Kerri was the youngest U.S. Olympian in Barcelona. She won Bronze that year. Her life became very uncertain after Barcelona - Coach Bela retired.
Kerri spent 3 years looking for a new coach. She bounced from one gym to another. She trained with 3 coaches in the 3 years. Each new coach meant moving to a new place, living with a new host family and a new school. During that time Kerri suffered 2 injuries that were major setbacks for her. Each one of these injuries required 6 months for her to fully recover. Then Bela came out of retirement, so Bela and Kerri were re united. Kerri once again felt confidence in her chances of winning gold in the next Olympics.
Atlanta, 1996, after 4 years of hard work and training Kerri was back again in her 2nd Olympics. As the team competition was coming to the end, Kerri was last up on Vaulting. On the first Vault she failed at the landing and injured her ankle as the whole world watched her. On her second vault Kerri stuck the landing with one good leg. Then she was in so much pain that she collapsed to the ground and had to be carried off the floor. Kerri Strug helped secure a gold medal for the Team USA, and earned her first gold medal.
Later, in an interview Kerri said, “It was very clear to me that I needed to have a good strong Vault, to give the team a chance.” Kerri’s WHY to win Gold for the team was SO BIG that it gave her the courage to do the Vault again and stick the landing despite the tremendous pain.
This is Motivation at its best!
