Increase Productivity - part 2

Welcome back!

The problem wasn’t because I didn’t have people. The problem was I wouldn’t let my people be useful and do their job. I would not Delegate! At that point of my life, I felt that I could do every job better and faster than anyone else. Therefore, I wanted to do everything myself. I was so blind I couldn’t see that if I just took the time to plan it out, I could delegate work to my capable employees, who had be dieing for their chances to prove themselves to me. And I could be free to lead my troops.

One day we were getting ready to leave the shop to do a big network job with my team. We were all packing to go to the job site and I collapsed! I was laying on the floor in my office. I was very sick. That was my moment of clarity. I am not being Productive. I have not been running my business. My business has been running me.

Since that day I have become a master of delegation. I learned how to delegate effectively. How to choose the right tasks to delegate. How to identify the right people to delegate to.  How to delegate in the right way. I only work on tasks that have the highest priority, while I delegate all the other meaningful and challenging task to others.

My business soared and we had a huge break though. And the quality of my life improved dramatically.

Wow, this was such an eye-opener! Today, I choose to take my Imperfect Action to delegate non-priority tasks and ask or accept help when it’s offered. You have an Amazing blog!! I can’t wait to read more!!

Hi Giovanna:

This story stuck a nerve about trying to hard. I play golf and love the game, but don’t break 100 very often. Two weekends ago, I overdid it working in the yard and woke up with a bad back. I rested my back for a week and decided I could play some golf last weekend if I took it easy.

So with no expectations and an easy swing (to spare my back) I shot an 88. I don’t think I have ever hit the ball straighter. So, trying to hard and worrying about the score, my usual state of mind, is not as productive as a purposeful, calm, focus.

Dear Roxanne & Hugo

I am so proud of you two! That is so cool. Remeber, you can never do more if you don’t delegate! This is the begining of you two, go up the next level of success. It is because now, you are open to the universe’s help. This is so exciting.

I am glad you like my blog, keep coming back. I blog everyday :-)
