Fear of Failure, stops people from taking action

Welcome back!

Like many of you, I know firsthand what the fear of failure feels like. The moment we take action, we open ourselves up for potential failure.

What if I fail? Failure has such a bad connotation in our society it’s almost like a filthy word. Nobody wants to say, “Oh, he’s a failure,” or “I’m a failure,” or “She’s a failure.” It’s like “loser.” Nobody wants that title.

Well, here’s the truth no one wants to talk about: you can’t get to success without some failures. Failure is part of the journey to success. If you let yourself have a hang-up on a fear of failure, you’re never going to get to success, to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. You need to be okay with failure, and take the mindset that I’m going on to do this new venture, this new goal that I set for myself to do, and I’m not going to be afraid of failure; I’m just going to go do it.

The key to free yourself from the fear of failure is - detachment, on having the ability to detach yourself from the results. In other words, you can’t assess yourself and give yourself a grade—an A, B, C, or D—based on your first attempt, on your first action toward success. Anything you attempt the first time may or may not be the right action to take. You’ve got to take that first action to get to the second action, though. You’ve got to go do it if you want to succeed.

Do yourself a favor, set yourself free from the fear of failure today. You will loss 20 Lbs off your back immediately.

If you are a reader, a friend of Becky McCray did a book review on this great book call Bounce! by Barry J. Moltz

You all should go check it out.

Hi Imperfectaction,
The fear of failure is very real when you have accomplished big things and people see you in a certain light, you want to alway look good on the surface no matter what is going on in your world. The scripture that saids it is harder for a Camel to go through the eye of a needle then a rich man to get into heaven. The point the palsmist was making the camel going through the eye of a needle , back in Roman times inside the city entrance they had smaller gates to the city the a camel would have to unload his pack get on his knees and crawl through the gate to enter. It meant he would have to get naked to come in. It’s very hard to get naked and let people see who you are. So if you aren’t pleased with yourself we bad talk ourselves to much and can see ourselves as not being successful.

Dear leftside

I understand what you mean. All we can do it remember no matter how much we had accomplished, we are still only human. And setback is just one of those thing that happen to everyone, no matter who you are. Stay detach with the outcome, all you can do is your best. Remember, you must had some setback in the past to get to your accomplishment. It is no difference now.

Keep coming back,

Failure - to me simply means not trying. To fail is to not act. But as you pointed out, failure is looked upon on our society as taboo. You post speaks voulmes to me as I am embarking on a relication back to my home state. I feel a great weight of responsibility to make this “project” succeed. Your post reminded me that failure does not exist and is a needlessweight on my shoulders… looking back I want to say “at least” rather than “what if”.
Thank you for your post!

Dear Dave
I am glad my post reminded you about failure do not exist. Even though we logically understand we have not reason for fear. Fear hangs around us at all time; it looks for our moments of weakness. Then Fear is always ready to move in on us. That is why we all could use a good reminder from time to time.

Thanks for stopping by, keep coming back.
