A Choice of Action!
Welcome back!
Let me share with you a conversation between me and a man name Jimmy. Jimmy is in his middle age and ever since his mother passed away, Jimmy has been feeling totally lost. He is almost homeless at this point. He has been sleeping at friend’s house.
Jimmy came to me because he is desperate for help; he said to me that he wants to overcome all of his obstacles.
Jimmy said,” I doesn’t have too many options, I doesn’t have any special skill and I also cannot really read.”
I asked Jimmy what kind of job, he would like to do? Jimmy said, “I don’t know, I always think I would like to work with the elderly, but I don’t have any medical skill.
I said to Jimmy, “Let’s talk about what you can do.” Jimmy replied “No a whole lot.”
I can see that Jimmy is very down on himself. So, I ask Jimmy, “What are you looking for?”
Jimmy answered, “I want to feel belong? I want to have a place to call home? I am barely getting by. I need money!” I said to Jimmy, “What do you think you need happen, for you to get all of that?”
Jimmy thinks for a little and he said, “If I can just find someone to help me! Someone to give me a job! A friend to stay with for a while longer and save up some money for my own place, so I can get ahead! Where can I find someone to help me?”
I said to Jimmy, “I don’t know where you can find someone to give you a job and give you the help you need. But what I do know is that if you start taking action to help yourself, then the outside help will follow. ”
Then Jimmy said to me, “But I don’t have any skill and cannot really read. I know it will be very hard for me to get a job. That is why I think if someone could give me a job first and I can do the rest easier. Do you know of anyone I can turn to for a Job?”
I said to Jimmy, “What I am hearing from you is that, you are waiting for help form outside of yourself. This is an element that is beyond you. And if that help never arrive then you will be forever in waiting! What I am suggesting for you, is to go out and start taking action to help yourself. At the same time to keep your mind open for outside help.”
I asked “Will you just try it? Try to go find a job. You have been doing it the other way ‘waiting for someone’ and that hasn’t been working for you. Will you try a different way?
Jimmy and I then start talking about places that he could get a job. We talked about job that he could do that might come with housing. We begin to brainstorm on job that he can do, and the list got long by the minutes. Jimmy begins to make his choice of action.
It is un amazing how some time we forget we have choices and we can take action. Good luck Jimmy!

Giovanna, Hey this is Shaw Funami. I am really seeing a difference. The difference between your approach and approach from any other existing groups or programs. Other guys give e-Book, CD, bunch of materials you never touch again after you receive. But you guys bring your people to the edge whereas they need to take hands-on action.
