To Learn How To Fly…

Welcome back!

A Face on the Butterfly Wing!

The story of the butterfly.

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.
One day a small opening appeared.
He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours
as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole.
Then it stopped, as if it couldn’t go further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bits of cocoon. The butterfly emerged easily but it had a swollen body and shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch it, expecting that any minute the wings would enlarge and expand enough to support the body, Neither happened! In fact the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around. It was never able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand: The restricting cocoon and the struggle
required by the butterfly to get through the opening was a way of forcing the fluid from the body into the wings so that it would be ready for flight once that was achieved.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. Going through life with no obstacles would cripple us. We will not be as strong as we could have been and we would never fly.

So whenever you are struggling just remember you are learning how to fly.

Very nice analogy. It is hard to watch others struggle but its often better to just give words of encouragement as they learn to figure out life’s lessons on their own.

This is the best way anyone could have explained why we struggle sometimes and why we need to take time to go through it. Sometimes it takes us a lot longer than we thought it would but if we keep taking one small step at time, we will get where we want to be, no doubt.
Thank you Giovanna :)

Dear Stelle

One little step after another, that is how we will all get to where we want to be. So keep taking steps :-)

Thanks for your comment, I hope to see you again soon :-)

Butterflies - my Mum’s favourite .. our Healer uses butterflies with Mum .. I’ll read your story to my Ma and I’m sure she’ll appreciate it with the struggles she’s been through, let alone those she’s going through now

I am a trauma survivor. Healing has been a very long struggle and continues to be at times, although my life is better. It’s also true that people don’t change when everything is okay. People change in times of crisis. One step at a time…one goal at a time. If I knew 11 years ago that I’d still be dealing with some of the crap, it might have stopped me from trying. I recall when I first started collage and earned my first 3 credits…with only 117 to go. Overwhelming! But looking at the next 3 credits was much easier. I’m glad I’ve struggled to get my wings. And I do believe encouragement when I’m struggling is heavensent. Encouragement vs. advice. You can do it. You’ve been here before. Keep going. Blessing to you for spreading this message.

That was excellent. As a father I sometimes have to bite my tongue when I see that my kids are going to do something wrong, but I feel that they would learn from living the mistake than by me warning them about it, not that they would listen half the time anyway, lol.

Naturally if I thought that the mistake could prove more than they could handle or was dangerous I would step in, but sometimes it is hard to make the judgment call.

Hi Sire

I thought of the man with scissors as parenthood when I did this post as well.
I guess parenthood is a lot of judgment calls.

Thanks for your comment, I look forward to reading more from you.

This is great story. Just like the batterfly, if one did not struggle, he cannot learn and acquire anything. Struggling may not be easy, but everybody should know that it is the necessary process. Thank you for your story, Giovanna.

Such an incredible story!! We have always believed struggles and obstacles are Life’s little tests. It makes us stronger, more grateful and better people. Overcoming them, is the greatest joy and experience of empowerment. Also, our own personal stories of overcoming struggles in turn will help inspire and empower others.

Thank you so much for sharing this story. It’s a beautiful way to see it in a different perspective. Would you mind if we shared it in a Personal Growth Club we moderate? We know they’ll love it as much as we did. :-)

Many Blessings….

Hello. Something I would like to share. As a mother of two beautiful children, I believe I did the best I knew hoe in raising them. In retrospect, i am able to see where I may have made some mistakes. During their adolescent years, I always tried to guide them, as I still do, giving them their space to make their decisions, reep benefits from the wise ones and deal with consequences from the wrong ones. It’s a very difficult thing to do, but it must be done in order for them to be able to walk down their path of life step by step, get up when they fall, and grow to become better and better people and more and more enlighted about life and the world around them. After all, isn’t this at least one reason why we are here? Thanks for the opportunity to share Giovanna. God bless!

Giovanna Garcia says: 6 January 2009 - 11:30 am

Hi Lillian

You sounds like such a great mom :-) I think you are very wise to give them space to make their decision while they are growing up. Because that is how they are going to learn how to walk their path.
Thank You so much for your comment, you have added more value to this post :-)
