Three stories … from Steve Jobs

First Story ~ connecting the dots.

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever…

Second story ~ love and loss.

The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

Third story ~ death.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

You know Giovanna, I heard this speech in 2006, and this story played a little part in me leaving my university to start my business :)

… and I don’t regret it.

What he says is really true - you cannot connect the dots looking forward. It was a scary road in front of me then, but something in me just told me to move on.

I’m yet to be financially free today, but looking back, I am so glad I am not like many of my classmates, so afraid to even tell their boss that “I’ve something to attend to this evening and I’m not staying for the company meeting”

Thanks for the wonderful sharing Giovanna. You are inspiring.

Steve Jobs has always intrigued me. He seems to do his thing instead of trying to follow the pack. Brilliant as well. Exactly why I’ve been an apple fan from the beginning. I guess I’ve always been a “b side” type of guy as well.

Great Post!

Daniel

Wow!! Awesome speech!! We listened to it about 4 times today!!

Steve Jobs is a wonderful example of how we should never give up and throw in the towel when things get rough. As long as you’re doing what you love (Our Passion), the “dots” will lead in the right direction, even if they don’t quite “connect” yet. This was such a beautiful and inspiring speech. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Many Blessings….
