To understand is to except…you don’t understand.

Holiday is a time when most family gets together and enjoys quality family time; however, it can also be a time when feeling and emotion runs high.
I was speaking with a client just the other day; casually we were talking a bout the holiday and all the family get together. She started to tell me about all of her family members whom will be coming, and the new guests that will join her family this holiday.
Then suddenly I hear a little bit of sadness in her voice and she said, “A part of me wished my Dad would visit us for the Holiday…he have never seen his grandson. My Dad had choosing to walk out of my life years ago.” As we talked more about this I found that she has tried to have a relationship with her father for years, but this is just one of those things that can’t be done from only one side. Every year before the holiday she wonders if she can charge him. And at the holiday she wonders why he is not there.
I ask her, “Exactly how many years has this been going on?” She said, “14 years and I have done every thing I could…he has a new family and that is all he wants… And I just want to understand ‘Why’?”
I said to her, “Sometime in life to understand is just to except that; You Don’t Understand!”
She burst out laughing. I said, “I know it may sound a little like a fortune cookie, but I think it is true.” She looked at me with a big smile and watery eyes, and said, “I understand…” I can see that her body let out a big relief.
