Michael Jordan was beaten…

Welcome back!

Michael Jordan is one of the most famous Basket Ball players of all time.  When we think of Michael Jordan; most of us see him in our mind’s eyes ~ doing the Air Jordan or we hear the song, “Like Mike, Like Mike, I want to be like Mike….”

What about behind the glory? It is hard for us to imagine Michael failed to make the varsity basketball team in High School at first. Michael worked diligently on his own and at basketball camps to improve his game in order to make the varsity squad the following year.  Michael Jordan once said, “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed”.

Michael Jordan wasn’t always the star that we all know. As a sophomore Michael was 5’ 11” and his brother Larry who was only 5’7” at the time, would regularly beat Michael in one-on-one game. It was Larry who taught Michael the importance of competition.

Once Michael Jordan said, “Success isn’t something you chase. It is something you have to put forth the effort for constantly; then maybe it’ll come when you least expect it.”

So keep pressing on…even the great Michael Jordan has heard ‘NO’ before. Michael has been beaten more times than most and that is why he is Michael Jordan.

Solid post Giovanna and I love the idea that Imperfect action is better than no action. Don’t worry about getting it right, just worry about getting it going. It will work itself into right as long as you continue making progress.

Giovanna,

Yesterday i attended a leadership seminar. The host told us a story.

There were two tribes in a village. Both tribes had a “rain dance” to bring in rain. However, it seems like only one of them worked. So news spread and the media was curious… why did one tribe dance work and not the other?

When interviewed, the tribe leader said “We danced UNTIL it rained”.

Simple story, but a lot of meaning behind it. Persistence is key. If we want something in live, pursue it UNTIL it is ours!

Yes, in life one must never give up. Each disappointment must be treated as a lesson learned and one must find a way to overcome it’s effect and strive for the goal that is within reach for all those wish to obtain success. Every failure is just another step to obtaining the goal we seek.

We need tenacity to succeed in life. I wish I wasn’t afraid to fail and laugh at myself and then pick up and do it again. Thanks for an inspiring post. I always come here whenever I feel the need to comfort myself.
