Have an eye for opportunity for the New Year.
Welcome back!
As 2008 coming to an end, I recalled in the past few months there were lots of talks about many problems all around; the job market, the real estate market, the financial market… A lot of people were running scared.
And it is because the New Year is only a few days away, this week I am hearing a lot people wishing for a big turnaround for the New Year! Many folks are wishing for the markets to do better in 2009.
While I myself do wish for the market to be better in 2009, I also wish everyone a Healthy, Happy and Successful New Year. The biggest thing, I wish for is ‘eyes for opportunity’ for everyone!
No matter the times, there will always be challenges or problems in business. However, it is the ones who have an eye for opportunity. They are the one who sees million-dollar opportunities instead of seeing problems.
A practical way to train yourself to have an ‘eye for opportunity’: is whenever you see a problem, stop complaining! Realize that, this is your million-dollar opportunity. Instead of complaining, ask yourself “How can I fix that problem everyone else currently has?”
You can train your brain to think of an improvement or a solution for that problem. Start by writing them down. Then is implementation! Go take action and implement your improvement or solution to the problem. This might take some practice and that is alright.
You will find that by practicing your eyes for opportunity, you will feel more empower, your outlook will be better… Beside, you just might come up with the solution and have the million-dollar opportunity in your hands.

I really like your take on this. I was aware of the fact that complaining does not improve the situation, but I never thought that problems could actually bring opportunities. Thanks for helping me see this.
Hi Antonio
Yes, problems do bring opportunities. And we can only see the opportunity if we are looking for it
