Meet the special messengers of Peace.

Welcome back!

Greg Pike has been spreading the message of Peace for over eight years. What make Greg’s message of Peace so unique are his messengers: Booger, Kitty and Mousey; a dog, a cat and rat.

Gregory Pike has been studying animal habitats and psychology for about 30 years. He has worked with animal rescues and rehabilitation centers for mountain animals, and has a diverse background in animal training.

How did this all begin? It all started about nine years ago, when “Someone said it couldn’t be done” – no one believed a dog, cat, and a rat could all become best friends. So, Greg decided he was going to prove that love, respect and acceptance can across all boundaries.

Greg said, “The dog raised the cat — I used her gestation period to raise the cat like a puppy. Booger chose Kitty from the litter, so she thinks it’s her baby.” The cat was then raised around all sorts of small animals, and treats the rat as if it were its own sibling.

Pike’s message comes from the simple reality of what he and his animals have accomplished together. It proves that all animals, regardless of their most vicious tendencies towards each other, can be kind and caring toward one another. Obviously these animals are able to do something we humans simply have not completely managed to do. Greg said, “Peace can happen anywhere — if they can do it why can’t people?”

Greg Pike and his animals can be seen taking their daily walk on State Street, in Santa Barbara, California.

Greg hopes one day to start a program in his home state of Colorado, a program of humane treatment, non-kill shelters for animals. As well as teaching kids about love and peace between all species.

Giovanna, I’ve Stumbled this post. Where in the world do you find all these stories? Do you just surf the web until you find something interesting?

I love the format of your blog - each post is a real-life story. If I were to start my blog all over again I think I would do it this way, except that you’ve already done it! Great work Gio!

Hi Gio .. animals are great .. they do sort themselves out and love each other .. they don’t select .. they just get on with it ..

Let us humans learn something from them .. Thanks - Hilary

That’s too cute. And there is no doubt that a cat and dog can be friendly and playful. I’ve witnessed it. It comes down to personality. Or training.

Hi Gennaro
Cat & Dog are cool, but a cat, a dog and a rat!? That is way too cool. I am sure that Greg spend a lot of time to trained them.
Thanks for your comment and joining in the conversation.

Interesting post. It makes me think of the lesson I had to learn about getting along with people of different mindsets — it’s not about me, and if we can learn to accept people’s idiosyncrasies and not take them personally, we would all get along better.

Giovanna, doing one joyful story a week is a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion. I’m thinking about it already…

Hi Bri
You are very wise. Most of the time it is not about us and if we can all learn to accept each other’s differences we might be able to have world peace.
Thanks for your comment and sharing your wisdom.
