How bad do you want it?

Welcome back!

The Will to Wins

If you want a thing bad enough

To go out and fight for it,

Work day and night for it,

Give up your time and your peace and your sleep for it,

If only desire of it

Makes you quite mad enough

Never to tire of it,

Makes you hold all other things tawdry and cheap for it,

If life seems all empty and useless without it

And all that you scheme and you dream is about it,

If gladly you’ll sweat for it,

Fret for it, Plan for it,

Lose all your terror of God or man for it,

If you’ll simply go after that thing that you want

With all your capacity,

Strength, and sagacity,

Faith, hope, and confidence, stern pertinacity,

If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt,

Nor sickness nor pain

Of body and brain

Can turn you away from the thing that you want,

If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it,

You’ll get it.

by Berton Braley

If you want something bad enough, you will find a way to make it happen. You can move mountains. You will have the strength to do the unthinkable… You’ll become the super you.

Wow, Gio. That picture says it all. I can’t remember wanting something that badly, probably because I’ve been blessed in life and have everything I can think of to want already. Handicapped athletes are so inspiring.

Hi Gio .. those prosthetic legs are amazing .. Oscar Pistorius, the South Africa “Blade Runner” .. has two of these and competes at Olympic level .. - your stories are brilliant to constantly remind us of what we can do ..

I love the way poem reads to .. you can get some real intonation into it .. it’s great - thanks

That’s an amazing shot! What a great story Giovanna. After seeing this, there really aren’t a lot of acceptable excuses that I could come up with for not doing something!

Hi Giovanna. This sounds encouraging and motivating. But as I was reading it, I felt that it was also a bit obsessive. I don’t think we should have to fight and work so hard for our dreams. I agree that a “win” is satisfying, but there is another, gentler, allowing side to this that I feel is missing from this passage. Now, in hindsight, just before I hit the publish button, and after looking at the photo again, this speaks to me more of fighting to overcome obstacles, rather than fighting for success. From that perspective I say yes!

Hi Davina

Winning has many meaning to many people, for some it is about success, for other it is about over coming obstacle.

Where there’s a will there’s always a way.

Whenever I find somebody “can’t”, it’s usually a motivation issue. Given enough motivation, people start taking action, learning, improving, and making things happen.

I like “super you”
