Nancy Loo stayed focus with her work even during Labor.

Welcome back!

Work for what you want.

Recently I had the pleasure to interview an Emmy Award-winning Anchor Nancy Loo form Fox News Chicago for my book that I am working on. My book will not be out until the later part of this year. However, Ms. Nancy Loo is such an inspiring woman that I feel my blog readers can use some of Nancy’s special inspiration today. Nancy inspires with kindness, honor and her own example of hard work.

Ms. Nancy Loo is a first-generation immigrant from Hong Kong, not only was she able to master English; she also speaks German and does sign language.

Nancy grew up at her parent’s Chinese restaurant. From the age of 8 Nancy worked as a hostess, waitress and helped in the kitchen. All of that helped her with: English, math, service and communication, which helped prepare Nancy for her career in becoming a Journalist.

Nancy describes her childhood as “very unusual” because unlike other children who go home after school, Nancy goes to her family restaurant after school. She did her homework at the restaurant and she saw first hand her parents’ hard work. Nancy follows her parent’s role models of hard work; she light-heartedly said the ancient Chinese secret to success is– “Hard work”.

Nancy said: “Every generation before us did Hard Work. We grew up witnessing our parents and we carry that through out our lives, than hopefully we pass it onto our children and they will work hard and succeeded too!”

She earned her Emmy for a newscast which she did the show while she was in active labor with her daughter. Her labor became a part of the newscast and the Emmy that Nancy received has the date of her daughter’s birthday on it, because her daughter was born on that very same day.

Nancy also talked about how in the Chinese Culture, respecting the elderly is very important. She said: “Often times we feel that everything we do directly reflects up on our elders and we have a great sense of duty to work hard to make our elders proud”. She also said: “If every generation feels that way, then we have a cycle of generations aspiring to succeed”.

One thing this Emmy Award winner said that touch me the most was, she said: “I am hardly perfect, but it’s better to work hard and get things done as best as possible.” She is a woman with the same kind of philosophy as all of us here at Imperfect Action…is better than No Action and look where her philosophy have gotten her in life.

Nancy Loo is a highly successful Journalist; yet very down to earth, she is one of the nicest people you will ever come across. You can connect with her on twitter and Facebook. Believe me when I say, “You will be glad you did”.
