Hmm, it sounds like he may have been a bit of both, but I think you can be a “good” fighter. I love some of these quotes — really great!
Nice list! I’m one of Bruce’s biggest fans. But even I have to admit that many of his best quotes and stories are inspired mostly by older existing stories. It kinda broke my heart when I read a really old Zen book and saw the same stuff he said.
super nice thoughts/feelings of wellbeing.Bruce is/was the most wellbuilt man ever! Your body and mind is connected to your soul. thanks Giovanna, keep on thinking positvely , sharing and caring. luvulots Tash B-)
Bruce Lee was amazing, it’s interesting to see how revered people are after they have passed away. Great selection of quotes btw.
Wow can choose a favorite but here are some thoughts on the ones that resonated with me in some way!
8. I used to give with strings attached. Then I discovered expecting a thank you is a string!
9. I find humorous.
14. I’ve been plateauing for a while now!
13. I have to high expectations for self and others.
Hi there Giovanna - I especially like the one about learning to swim, about the mind being a garden, the one about the bending bamboo and willow, becoming what we think and having plateaus not limits. That’s more than 3 - oh well, I’m not perfect! (heheh)
Cheers - and thanks for this - R
This is cool. My friend and I were just watching Bruce Lee the other day too! Strange…
Giovanna, thank you for these quotes. The ones that we like the best are 2,3,4, and 12. That is more than three but that is ok. How do you choose so few.

While I’m fully in accord with you in appreciating BL’s philosophical mind, the aforementioned aphorisms make him at sound at best like an armchair philosopher, at worst, a third rate Nietzsche. Writing as both a philosopher and as a martial artist he deserves more.
Hi Man
Bruce Lee deserves to be appreciate and recongize for all that he have done. A great man in my eyes.

Look, I love Bruce Lee as much as the next person, but you should know that number 7 is a direct quote by Albert Einstein. Please don’t misquote Bruce. He is great enough without ascribing to him that which belongs to another.
Hi Troy
Many of the great have the same message, just becasue Burce might not have invented it. It doesn’t mean that he didn’t learned it and were spreading the wisdom of that message.
Thanks for your comment, nice to meet another fan of Bruce Lee.

Hi Giovanna,
Since studying Jeet Kune Do Concepts, there is not a day where Bruce’s theories leave my mind.
People have to understand that Bruce incorporated many systems and styles from various martial arts around the world, opening them up for us all to absorb and progress.
My favorite that is on my wall is:
“Knowing is not enough, we must apply.”
“Willling is not enough, we must do.”
