A Mule with the winning attitude.
Welcome back!

Have you heard of the say, “It is not what happen to you is not as important as the attitudes of how you react to what happen that matter the most.”
Here is a story about a Mule with the winning attitude.
The Old Mule
Once upon a time a farmer owned an old mule who tripped and fell into the farmer’s well. The farmer heard the mule braying and was unable to figure out how to bring up the old animal. It grieved him that he could not pull the animal out. He’d been a good worker around the farm. Although the farmer sympathized with the mule, he called his neighbors together and told them what had happened. He had them help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and quietly put him out of his misery.
At first, the old mule was puzzled, but as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, he had a thought: he ought to shake off the dirt and step up. And he did just that.
“Shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up.” Even though he took painful blows of dirt and fought panic, he just kept right on shaking it off and stepping up!
It wasn’t long before the old mule stepped up and over the lip of that well. What could have buried him actually blessed him…all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.
~Author Unknown
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.” by Charles R. Swindoll
What value did you learn from the story of the Mule?

What a fantastic story - I love it! He was a crafty old mule! I like the way, in the story, he followed his impulse, one step at a time - that’s what I try to do. Thanks, Giovanna - R
well, the mule didn’t expect the humans to bury it.
also, the humans didn’t expect the mule to escape.
but the imperfection in acting generated change in the ecuation.
imperfect act is an act indeed. without acting, you have nothing around you to help yourself climbing..
it’s just an apinion.
I like your blog. see u around
Do what you have to do to help yourself to a better place. To be committed to achieve the goals that you set for yourself not for others. The mule by shaking it off and stepping up got to the goal that he wanted, no doubt surprising the farmer and his friends-their goal was different than that of the mules. How many people can we surprise by achieving our goals and making that move up in the way that we need to and want to go in. So that it is better for us. Thank you Giovanna for this nice story.

Hi Giovanna.
That was truly an inspiring story. Whether or not such a mule actually ever existed, it is a powerful metaphor for how we handle out situations in our own lives. When we face our obstacles, whether they be dirt on our backs or setbacks to our goals, what matters most is how we react to them. Do we allow the dirt to bury us, or do we step over our setbacks and grow wiser, stronger, and more experienced from them? Thanks for the story!
Attitude is so key. Our attitudes shape how we respond to the events in our lives.
I totally agree, Giovanna. Attitude makes a huge difference. In my life, whenever I was in a tough spot, I always pick myself up and keep on going. There is no other choice!
Hi Giovanna,
That is one smart mule….who says animals are not intelligent! The moral of the story is to shake off difficulties, trials and tribulations and get back in the game.
Thanks for your interesting story!

Hi Deanna
We must focus on what our goal is and it doesn’t matter what someone else are doing. We just need to shaking it off.
